Hooray. Finally someone in the public eye has said something that nearly everyone has been thinking for years; that advertising spoils television.

Don’t you find it annoying when you are trying to watch a programme and you are repeatedly interrupted by advert breaks? Sometimes they last for so long that, when the programme comes back on, you have forgotten what was happening in it. Trying to sit through a whole film on a channel with adverts is an absolute nightmare. If the tension has been mounting in a story then it is suddenly obliterated by the importance of having white teeth or of using a certain brand of washing powder.

I hardly think that anyone actually takes any notice of commercials anyway. When I go shopping I do not purchase specific brands of things because I remember seeing an advert for it.

Perhaps, if manufacturers stopped wasting hundreds of thousands on advertising, they could reduce their prices instead. Their sales would rocket then.

As for our next group trip, who wants to rock Vatican city? Hell yer, of course you do. Why not come? All the hostel in Rome are listed on hostel club. We get their on the 1st and stay for a fortnight.
