Flaunt a Healthy Skin This Winter

Winter can be really cruel on your skin. You need to take a look at your skin care products and regime, and maybe even make a few lifestyle modifications.

First and most importantly, continue to drink a good amount of water. Consume alcohol in moderation as it dehydrates your skin and this shows up horribly, especially around you eyes. Eat right. Consuming the local winter produce, farm fresh, is a good idea – nature wisely provides what you need, when you need it. Next, look around your home. Make it cosy and warm, with bright colours and natural fabrics. Use a humidifier, if you live in a very dry place. And, strange as it sound, apply a broad spectrum sunscreen to the exposed areas before stepping out. In addition use cotton next to your skin. Also remember to wear several layers rather than one thick woollen garment.

Coming to the body regime – do shower daily. Water is truly the most effective in hydrating your skin. Slather on a deep and quick penetrating lotion all over. Shift to oil based moisturizers during the winter months. Your night care routine should be equally comprehensive. And if you are over 40, go in for a rich face cream and foot cream as well.

Which brings me to the oft neglected areas of the body. Feet, elbows and knees and your back. One way to reach maximum area on your back is to generously lather on the stuff on to the back of your hands and then rub them over your back one at a time -you cover a wider sector. Also the breasts, especially for older women. Invest in a good breast toning product that keeps the skin looking good. You will need to apply it with the correct strokes so as not to cause sagging.
