Fashion’s newest darling Irina Shabayeva who won the 2009 edition of Project Runway will be debuting her 2010 Fall Collection on the thirteenth of February. Her debut will take place in New York City at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

Using Tupperware(R) Materials in Flight as her base material, Irina’s collection is one that is more than just inspired. She pays homage to some of the greats in the evolution of flight such as Amelia Earhart, The Da Vinci Glider, and also birds natures more exotic flyers, all from across the world.

This collection is a balanced mixture of what can only be called ethereal and somewhat industrial. It utilizes Tupperware’s materials in a most unusual way. The marriage between Tupperware and Shabayeva has lead to a manipulation of the materials in the creation of designs that are ready to wear and modern. On the runway some five pieces will be shown by her that use the Tupperware materials and she will also feature some of her more beautiful accessory creations.

This collection is indicative of her style of experimentation with materials that are considered unusual for a fashion designer. It is reminiscent of what she did in the fifth challenge on the Project Runway show where she used newspaper to create a couture dress.

Her previous collections what we found was a number of hats made out of Plexiglas and also a wire corset. Her new collection is focused on the mysteriousness of flight and the liberating feelings it can bring to everyone.

Some of what you can look forward to in her collection includes hats that are all custom made, feather dresses, and hand painted prints with some intricate designs. The show is being held at the SIR Stage 37.
