Concealers – Learn the Art of Concealing

Concealers can come to the last minute rescue when you wish to hide that zit or puffy eyes, or even when you need to hide skin tags from your mother-in-law. They almost posses a magical quality but too much of it can mar the effect. And besides, a caked up look will almost seem too unnatural. When using a concealer it is important to maintain balance. Color is of utmost importance when choosing the right concealer for your skin. Contrary to popular belief, concealer should not be lighter than the color of your skin but darker than it.
To conceal dark eye shadows, you can first apply foundation and then cover the area with a concealer. The concealer should be of such a color that it should become invisible when applied on top of the foundation. The concealer has to be one shade lighter than the color of one’s foundation. You can use a brush instead of your fingers to get an even effect.
If for some reason the concealer you have is of the wrong shade and in fact darker than the foundation, you can just use it below the foundation. This way it will stay hidden under the layers of the foundation where no on will be able to notice it.
Concealers are available in many textures. Some are too thick while some too thin. You can choose one that is best for your skin. If nothing is right for you and you are looking for a mid way you can try improving the texture on your own. Adding a little moisture can add weight to the thin ones. If your concealer tends to dry your skin, you can moisten the area minutes before applying the concealer and this will cause a noticeable change.
Finding a concealer can be a huge task but once you have found the right one it shouldn’t be too difficult for you. Till you find your perfect color, you can mix the ones that you bought earlier to arrive at colors that can match up with your skin tone.
