Your hair is a prized possession since it can really have an impact on how good or bad you look. Taking care of this asset can be a daunting task and when it starts diminishing in volume and fullness, it can even cause a lot of anxiety. It is but obvious that as you age your hair texture and thickness will also be altered as a biological process. One of the first tragedies to inflict you with aging could be hair fall.

The hair has a natural cycle which it undergoes. For about 2 to 3 years the normal cycle of hair growth occurs. About 90% of your hair is growing at approximately 1 centimeter every month and the other 10% is resting. After about three to four months, the resting hair falls and new hair starts growing in its place. Therefore, a certain amount of hair fall is justified and is not abnormal at all.

If the hair loss is a little too much then there could be various reasons for the same which would need to be diagnosed by a specialist, normally a dermatologist. Anyone can be inflicted with excessive hair loss, even children. The causes maybe poor diet, stress, hormonal imbalance, fungal infections on the scalp, side effect to certain medication, post pregnancy, or the presence of a problem due to thyroid and maybe diabetes too.

Hair loss can be arrested with timely action. Getting to a doctor on time can help you identify the exact reason for hair loss and tackle the issue at hand accordingly. There are various medicines which can be prescribed for external application or taken orally. Alternative therapies such as aromatherapy or ayurveda can also counter the problem of loss of hair. Most therapies other than allopathic medication would not show immediate results but would take effect over a prolonged period.
